We’re back with another update on the Dalaslaget Comp Pack.
You can find the full Comp Pack on the website, and we’ll soon open up for sign-ups to the upcoming tournament — so make sure that you’re on the lookout for that and that you’re planning your army. Also, for this time we’ll post a series of short blogs regarding our thoughts for each of the factions. To let you in on our reasoning behind the changes and why we mean that they are the right ones for the tournament.
.: BEASTMEN :.
First up are fierce and dangerous Beastmen of the wilds.
We have identified that they still are less frequently played and that they also struggle to reach the same results as other factions. We do think that they’re capable of winning and that they do have powerful units available to build around, especially when piloted by experienced players. However, we would still like to address some of the issues that are associated with their faction.
AMBUSH
Even with the upgraded rules from the End Times: Glotkin book, we still don’t see people picking Ambushers very often. We’re trying to slightly increase the viability by giving them the option to alter the dice results starting at turn three. Ideally we don’t want to change the risk/reward during the very early stages of the game, as being able to come in at the opponent’s table edge is still strong a strong play. Having a bit more control over that randomness starting from the mid-game should improve the viability of taking Ambushers, which we consider a core strategy that should be more viable to their faction.
GIFTS OF CHAOS
We feel that Gifts of Chaos are good upgrade choices, but that they often are outclassed from the other magical items. With this change we hope that they’re included in more lists and that Beastmen players find new ways to kit out their characters. Lords can take up to 100 points in addition to their magical item allowance and Heroes up to 50 points in addition.
MARKS OF CHAOS
Having access to Marks is a good thing for the Beastmen army, and it does help with their win rate quite a bit. With this newest update we are also giving Bray-Shamans access to the Chaos Lores, provided that they take the appropriate marks, which we hope will open up for some new army builds. Personally I’m eager to try out a build with the Lore of Slaanesh, as controlling the opponents movement whilst the herds advance over the table does seem like it could be both fun and powerful.
COMP CHANGES
Since we have introduced a few new changes, we’re reluctant to modify the other comp scores too much as we still want to better evaluate the upcoming tournament results before we make any additional changes.
We have added a slight modifier to chariot spam, and also removed the -1 comp for bringing a Doombull on a flying carpet. Other factions have access to powerful character that can soar the skies and we think that it isn’t a net negative for the game to see some fun additions to the table once in a while.
The biggest change is probably that we’re putting a penalty on bringing too many units with the powerful Mark of Nurgle. Players can still take them for two full units, but if they also want that mark for their characters (which does count as units) they’ll have to pay some comp score for it.
Those were the biggest updates for the Beastmen army, and we hope that you’ll stay tuned for future blog posts regarding the comp pack. Until then, we wish you the best of luck in your games.
