We’re back with yet another update on the Dalaslaget Comp Pack, which you can find at the homepage.
This time we’re going over the valiant defenders of the Realm. It’s always pleasant to see Bretonnia at the tournaments. With their devastating charges and powerful saves they bring a unique set of strengths to the game. Making the games that you play against them often very interesting. It’s often hard to build any force that is capable of handling their lances and armour.
.: BRETONNIA :.
N. have been play-testing Bretonnia heavily during the last months. They are truly a force to be reckoned with.
Building on the previous comp pack, we’re mostly happy with how they perform in the current meta. That said we also recognise that there are room for further improvements. We’ve done some minor updates in the comp pack. Such as increasing the comp bonus to any army that wants to field a Lord on Foot. We’ve also gone through the special characters and put an initial comp score for the Fay Enchantress. The Green Knight is receiving an errata for the tournament which will allow him to enter the board from within any terrain piece that isn’t counted as impassible. Lastly we have also taken a closer look at one of the least popular knight units.
QUESTING KNIGHTS
Questing knights seldom see play. Even though their access to two-handed weaponry should be a great tool for any combat that lasts longer than the initial charge. In combination with their expensive models, the disadvantage from Always Strike Last is seemingly too big. They have that excellent S4 base stat which goes up to the full S6, yet how hard you hit isn’t all that relevant unless you actually get to deliver the strike. Without their shield they’re stuck at a 3+ armour save, which is likely what’s limiting them.
With this new comp pack update, we’re giving them the ability to ignore the ASL penalty during a turn when the Questing Knights have made a successful charge. With that, we hope that they’ll pack a more impactful punch and that more people will be willing to try them out.
FAY ENCHANTRESS
We’ve scrutinised the Special Characters and the Fay Enchantress really does stand out. Whilst her model is expensive in points, she does bring a whole package of powerful items and abilities to the Bretonnian cause. She’s allowing the Bretonnians to try for the first turn and acting in every way as a powerful level 4 wizard with good mobility and an array of useful spells. We found that it would be prudent to at least give her a suitable comp score to begin with.
She has been included in lists that have performed well in the past and our current testing also seem to indicate that she is strong. We’ll keep on monitoring her performance, to see if it needs further tinkering.
That’s all for this brief update. Hopefully we’ll see a fair share of glorious banners hoisted high in the air, for the Lady.
